Shisha Café was first opened in San Antonio in the spring of 2003. Designed after the ever-popular Hookah cafes in the Middle East, the concept of Shisha Café was relatively new to San Antonio. The original idea of Shisha Café was to provide a casual place for people to come and eat light food and smoke hookah, while playing chess or backgammon.
In our early days of operation, Shisha Café only opened in the evenings and provided a comfortable spot for our customers. However, we began to grow and took over the two spaces: behind us and to the side. In 2008, we built our enclosed patio space to provide customers an outdoor area to enjoy food and hookah. Slowly, we quickly began to change and expand the menu to include grilled specialties of the Middle East as well as salads and dips. In 2016, we opened our biggest expansion project with the opening of Kababchi Grill adjacent to Shisha Café, where customers can enjoy finer dining in a family atmosphere.
We have been mentioned in the San Antonio Express News several times, San Antonio Current, Texas Monthly, and Kens 5 News for our outstanding food. We are constantly striving for quality ingredients and flavors. Please come by and sample our Middle Eastern food with Iraqi twist.
